Recommended Grooming Supplies
Here is a list of products we love and highly recommend to our Hiland Doodle Family.
Slicker Brush

Buy here: https://amzn.to/3x56jID

A slicker brush works great for the body. I love this one as any hair collected is easily removed and the grip is very comfortable.
I also use a regular hairbrush to brush out the ears, tails, and head.
Dematting Comb

Buy here: https://amzn.to/3W3saKM
A dematting comb is the best way to remove mats in my opinion! It gets a lot of them out without having to grab the clippers, and scissors are generally a bad idea depending on the location of the mat.
Color Enhancing Shampoo

Buy here: https://amzn.to/3JPA6fX
Nature's Specialties is AMAZING and the bluing shampoo really brings out the white and blacks in the dogs. When washing my dogs, I dilute it 1:16oz and it lasts while.
Moisturizing Conditioner

Buy here: https://amzn.to/3Bnb6HJ

Another amazing product by Nature's Specialties. This conditioner leaves the coat silky soft and smelling devine! The smell typically lasts for several days too, which I find rare in other brands. I dilute it 1:16 (although you can dilute it even futher).
Professional Blow Dryer

Buy here: https://amzn.to/3UN0glu
For a long time, I only toweled dried my dogs or attempted to use my personal hair dryer. It took forever for them to dry and my floors and furniture were wet.
I finally bit down and bought a Pet Hair Force Dryer Dog Grooming Blower with Heater and haven't looked back! The high pressure air shoots the water from the coat and I spend 5-10 minutes blowing them dry, and let them air dry the rest of the way. Dry floor and furniture, and I'm clipping within 2 hrs instead of 6hrs+.
Professional Clippers

Buy here: https://amzn.to/3UIL2xK
Grooming is time consuming but actually not too difficult once you get the hang of it. A DIY hair cut will save your LOTS of $$ if you have the time and patience to learn. Doodles will need to be groomed 3-4x per year.
I recommend to spend the extra money and get a professional clipper set. I've had cheaper ones before and they cut slower, but worse, my hands tired quickly from the heavy vibrations and the heavier unit. I'm much happier with my more expensive professional set and clip probably in half the time!
The Andis AGC Professional Clipper Kit is the one I use and it paid for itself in 2 hair cuts.
Clipper Blade Cooling/Lubricating Spray

Buy here: https://amzn.to/3UPAJI4
This wonderful product is cheap and will last forever! It keeps your blades lubricated, cooled, and clean. I spray it before and after clipping, as well as every 15 minutes as I go.
Clipper Blades (Lose the Guards)

Buy 3/4" blade here: https://amzn.to/3W4NwIt
Buy 3/8" blade here: https://amzn.to/3Pk11kD
I recommend to toss the guards that come with clippers and buy the size blades you want. I save HOURS using these over the guards, which are difficult to push through thick fur and get caught up if there is even light matting/tangles.
This 3/4"/19mm blade is the longest length blade I could find and it's my favorite to use over the body.

I use the Andis 4FC/9.5mm (3/8") blade for summer coats during our hottest weather, as well as the snout area if I'm not doing a scissor trim.
Grooming Outfit

Buy jacket here: https://amzn.to/3UPA7lK
Buy pants here: https://amzn.to/3hglqdQ
This is one product I wished I got years ago when I first started DIY grooming. Hair gets everywhere and is near impossible to get out of your clothes, and I've tried so many outfits/materials with no good results.
A jacket and pants grooming outfit will save your sanity! I stay completely clean now I even use the jacket on my kids if I give them a quick trim.
Professional Scissor Kit

Buy here: https://amzn.to/3UPQ2AT
A professional dog scissor set is also wonderful to have. It should include straight, curved, and blending scissors and a comb.
Note I use small children's scissors to get the hair near the corner of the eyes and keep those in my scissor kit too.
